HYROX is a global fitness competition designed for everyone — from professional athletes to everyday fitness enthusiasts. The format is the same worldwide: eight 1km runs, each followed by a different functional workout station. This consistency means competitors can measure themselves against athletes everywhere, from Dublin to Dubai.

In July 2025, Jonathan Lord and Kate Mitchell teamed up to compete in HYROX Sydney as a double — and they turned to DoDay to get them race-ready.

For Jonathan, better known as Jono, training for HYROX was about more than competition.
“DoDay offers a unique HYROX program that no one else in Hobart is offering,” he says. “It never felt like remote coaching — there was so much interaction and banter. The man [Head Trainer, Michael Behrakis] is a champion!”

Over five months, Jono and Kate followed a structured plan, designed specifically for them, through the DoDay app. Their program balanced endurance runs, targeted strength training, and HYROX-specific workouts such as sled pushes, wall balls, rowing, and burpees. Michael adapted the plan week by week to suit their progress, ensuring they built both the aerobic base and the functional power needed to perform on race day.

Jono wanted to regain something he hadn’t felt since his early 20s: serious fitness — and a love of it. He also sought the camaraderie of training with a partner.
“The great thing about HYROX is that it’s the same format everywhere. You can compare yourself with people competing in Austria, Dublin — anywhere. It’s a yardstick, and it feels incredible to be part of such a global event.”

For Kate, Sydney 2025 was her second HYROX — and the five months of structured training with DoDay left her stronger than ever.
“I’m the fittest I’ve ever been,” she says. “The atmosphere is hard to beat! And honestly, I’m so tired — but in the best way. As adults, it’s rare to give something everything you’ve got and feel exhausted because you truly tried your hardest.”

Head Trainer Michael Behrakis believes that accessibility is what makes HYROX special.
“It’s a big challenge, but the movements are simple. If you’re motivated enough, anyone can do it,” he says.

Jono agrees.
“I’m 47 years old — and there are people in their 80s competing. That’s a life goal right there.”

After five months of dedicated online training through the DoDay app, Jono and Kate crossed the finish line at HYROX Sydney — fit, strong, and with a smile on their face. “We did it!”

Want to compete in HYROX? The next event is on December 14 in Melbourne. Contact DoDay now to create a personalised training plan to get you there — and across the finish line.
