From as little as two strength sessions per week, people see significant positive change. Improved mood, energy, confidence, sleep quality, bone density, muscle mass, body fat percentage, athletic performance, and more. It reduces risk of death by any cause by 15%.
Australian health guidelines recommend a minimum of two strength training sessions per week. This includes children, seniors and everyone in between. Whatever your age or experience level, strength training meets you where you are. DoDay was named a 2024 national finalist in the AUSactive Most Inclusive and/or Diverse Program.
Strength training has substantial benefits for mental health. It’s been found to have similar effects to antidepressant medications. DoDay holds qualifications in mental health first aid.
DoDay Founder Michael Behrakis wasn’t born with a 6-pack and natural athleticism, like many personal trainers. He played sports in his teens, but in his early 20s, he became unhealthy and overweight. He found his way back to the gym, and it turned his health and his life around. He swapped bad habits for good habits and focused on consistency over perfection.
In 2020, he decided to make strength training his career. He wanted to help others achieve the results that he has achieved. He got his qualification and started working at a gym in Hobart, training clients and taking classes. He worked alongside many other trainers, learning from them whilst honing a unique approach that he could see worked. In 2022, he started DoDay.
The DoDay approach is about breaking down the barriers that stop everyday people from experiencing the benefits of strength training. Reducing gym intimidation, making strength training fun, and guiding people to a balanced lifestyle that will see them enjoy sustainable results.
It’s a simple method that works. It’s not about restrictive diets and going without. It’s actually about adding things in. It’s a ‘more’ mindset. More strength, more nutrients, more hydration, more gentle movement, more rest. If we focus on these things instead of aesthetics or what is on the scale, the other results come. More metabolism, more food, more energy, more confidence, more endorphins, improved body composition.
At DoDay, we recommend a whole-food Mediterranean diet with plenty of protein. Protein is essential for muscle maintenance, growth and repair. The Mediterranean diet doesn’t restrict food intake. It promotes eating lots of whole foods and is associated with greater longevity.
Support plays a critical role in goal achievement. DoDay personal trainers provide professional guidance, a personalised training plan, emotional encouragement, lifestyle advice and accountability. This is proven to increase motivation and success.
